THE ESSAY WILL BE:  We will Review on Thursday
The French Revolution is considered a major turning point in world history. Was violence necessary? Was the use of the guillotine justified? Was the French Revolution a success? Write a thesis statement (an argument)---”It was/was not necessary to use bloody violence to change France.
  1. 1.The Problem:  3 Estates divided the French into classes with different rights and representation.  Poor Harvests.  Government debt. 
    2. The actions and lifestyles of the King and Queen vs. the life of the people. 
    3.3.   How and to what extent did people gained rights. Discuss: the Storming of the Bastille,. National Assembly at Versailles.  Tennis Court Oath and the Declaration of Rights of Man. The Declaration of Rights Women excluded from these rights. 
    4.4. March by Women to Versailles; attempted escape; the debate whether to execute of the King and Queen ; execution
    5.5. Resolution: the Reign of Terror, and Robespierre and Marat (see notes); include Crushing Rebellion in Lyon.
